The R&B star filed the petition Friday in Superior Court inAtlanta, court records show. The couple, who got married in August2007, have two sons together, Usher Raymond V, 18 months, and Naviyd, 6months.

Usher, 30, and his wife of nearly two years, 38, have been leading separate lives for months, sources tell PEOPLE.The singer has been away from home often recording his next record inLas Vegas, one source says. "He's done his best to keep Tameka away,"says the source.

Another source told PEOPLE that Tameka has been focusing on keeping her family happy.

The night before Usher filed for divorce, his wife was spotted at a screening of Eddie Murphy's new movie, Imagine Thatin Atlanta with the couple's eldest son, and two of her sons from herfirst husband. Tameka, who was wearing a gray shirt, tight jeans andhigh heels, "was happy and smiling," says an onlooker.

The night his divorce papers were filed, Usher spent a low-keynight at the Los Angeles club MyHouse. He arrived late and came inthrough the back then was seated at a table where he spent time with afew friends chatting and drinking. The singer, who was smiling andtalkative, seemed to be in a good, but mellow mood.

Calls to the singer's rep were not immediately returned.

Gucci Mane was sentenced to 12 months in jail on Thursday (November 12)for probation violation and taken away in handcuffs, according to hislawyer.

Mane pleaded guilty to assault in 2005for attacking a nightclub promoter, and last September, he wassentenced to a year in jail for failing to fulfill his court-ordered600 hours of community service in that case. He went to jail and serveduntil March. Upon his release, Gucci went straight to the studio and recorded five songs.

The sentence is a blow to Gucci's career. The ATL rapper has an album coming out — The State vs. Radric Davis — on December 8 and is arguably at the height of his career; in terms of his sentence, he may be out of jail in six months.

Gucci has remained one of the hottest MCs in hip-hop solely offhis multitude of underground songs released on mixtapes. The recordskept him relevant in the clubs and streets and elevated his alreadyblossoming fan-favorite status.

"It was a challenge for me," he told MTV News in March aboutgoing to jail. "I'm just happy my team kept my music going strong forme. And I'm happy I recorded so many records so people could hear me."

This year, Gucci definitely was breaking through from thestreets to the mainstream, appearing on tracks for the Black Eyed Peas,Mario, Omarion, Mariah Carey and even a 50 Cent song. Gucci's currentsingle is called "Spotlight" and features Usher. This follows on theheels of "Wasted," featuring Plies.
